Mary's 9 Miler
Welp, according to my official schedule, technically I was supposed to throw down 12 miles today. I changed plans slightly in the interest of injury protection (and also due to being pretty fatigued from my last couple days of soccer and hard running). I’ll fill you in on what I’ve been up to since my last post. Friday I had co-ed soccer. Games are 7 v 7 on half of a regulation sized field, and...

Mary's Last Post (of the night)
So here’s the dealio on my three miler…. I ran the first mile (remember: 8 laps + 5 paces) in 6:58. I slowed down a bit for mile 2, but still finished the 8 laps in 7 and a half minutes (pretty much on the dot). Now, for mile three, I didn’t slow down, and even picked up the pace a bit from mile two. I wasn’t running faster than mile one, but did sprint for the last 1/8 mile (full out sprint)....

Mary's Six Miler
I logged another six mile run yesterday night., but forgot to bring my watch to the gym so I didn’t time it. I was happy with my pace though (felt about 8 min/mile pace or so, but maybe I’m also just flattering myself). The only bummer is it was an 1/8 mile track…so to hit one full mile I had to run 8 laps (and 5 paces, according to the front desk trainer at my gym). 48 laps and...

Annie's 8 mile...
Well my dear friend don’t be so sad…I skipped out on my 8 miles Saturday, it was gross out and I was heading to NYC for the day for the NOVA game (which they won and was awesome). I also haven’t been so great since I have been sick beyond sick, I annie did not have a voice!  I know that has never happened!  So I have been keeping it easy. I am very excited to go and get a new...

Mary's 11 Miler
….That I didn’t run. haha so terrible. I know it seems like I’m bailing on all my long runs (I am). It’s going to be terrible when I really have to run one of these guys. But this afternoon, right before I went for my 11 mile run, I cut my foot on a piece of glass. It’s not all that terrible, really. I just didn’t want to run on it. I went to the store, got...

Free Runnin!
Last night I went to A Snail’s Pace in Pasadena to pick up a new pair of running shoes. After my injury, I thought it was high time to get a new pair, since technically you’re supposed to change out your running shoes at least every 6 months (or more, depending on mileage). I’d had my puppies for two years running (maybe even longer) and realize that my negligence may have...

Mary's No Pain Six Miler
That’s right ya’ll. You read that title properly. Zero foot pain when I stepped off the treadmill last night. And it’s been fine all today, too. Weirdly, the only time I feel pain now is when I’m wearing heels. Even walking down stairs is fine (originally this was THE WORST). So I think it’s recovering (knock on wood). And I’m glad I took it slow for a week, as...

Mary's Updated Schedule
I was in the middle of writing a super long post regarding the status of my foot when the power strip crashed, my computer turned off, and all was lost. Since I was unable to retrieve the writing after several attempts, I’m changing tunes and keeping it brief this time around. To summarize. I ran yesterday to test out the foot injury. The only noticeable additional pain I feel is when...

Suzey's Halfie: Joined a Gym
Well kids, it’s official. If I don’t work out now, I’m wasting $90 each month that could be going to a better cause (such as my dress for Law Prom that I no longer am able to afford). ((FYI… I’m basically working extra hours at APAC when possible so I can afford it…)) So, I joined Life Time Fitness, which is an up-scale fitness facility with locations all over...

Mary's Unofficial Prognosis
Welp, kids, here is my unofficial diagnosis, as prescribed via email by an athletic trainer and physical therapist (friends from college now working in their respective fields). We think you injured either your achilles, deltoid ligament, or flexor retinaculum. The secondary pain on the outside of your ankle is most likely from the talus (it’s a bone between the two malleoli (ankle bones)...

Annie's cross training day
Well kids it is Tuesday and you know what that means…cross training day…well after my running yesterday I thought I would try and do something totally different…swimming.  I used to swim all the time growing up and really got into it senior year in college where I was swimming 4 times a week.  I was a swimming champ…ya then I stopped and today I remembered a- how much I...

Mary's "Injury"
….and I’m putting injury in quotations because I’m still hoping that nothing it really wrong and I’m just being a super big baby. Basically, I “injured” my ankle on Saturday at soccer (my cross training day). I am super bummed out because I hate being sidelined for any reason, and this injury is threatening my chances of playing soccer (season starts in two...

The past three days for Annie
Ok so after my whole knee situation I decided to put up the cash and finally join a gym.  I know running on a treadmill is not the same but at least it is  something and the ice outside right now is kinda bad and just getting back into action I wanted to go easy. Here is the breakdown: Saturday - I woke up rolled out of bed and headed to the gym with a new look, ok I had been out of working out...

Annie's back in action!!!!
Well folks great news and by great I am yes I am still injured but I can run!!  HAAAAZZZAAAA :) Yesterday after I got my scans and rays we found out nothing is torn or broken so high fives went all around. Now for the news…I have patella tendinitis, which is livable but painful and I should take some time off to rest it but it won’t cause any damage to keep running (I will just have...

Mary's 3 miler
3 miles tonight on the treadmill. Finished in 24 minutes on the dot. Looking good so far in Week One of training, though my body is more sore than I care to admit. Looking forward to an off day tomorrow, followed by cross training (soccer) on Saturday and my first long run on Sunday.

Suzey's Halfie: Tennis Woes and Sore Abs
Okay. I realize I have been AWOL for about a month and a half now. No excuses. I am just busy lazy. However, now that I am an engaged woman, I think I need to make some definite changes in order to be in shape for the wedding - and in shape for life purposes as well. Soooo I got a free 7-day gym pass at Lifetime Fitness, which is the gym in which my fiance and his roommate have real passes. I...

Mary's Marathon Plans
Welp, kids. The official marathon training has begun. No more of this light training to prepare for the official training. As of today…..it’s official. I’ve made all the adjustments to my schedule and printed out a couple copies to hang on to.  It looks like I’ll be doing my long runs on Sundays, since I have soccer on Saturdays. I’m really liking the way my...

Annie's little update
Well I was suppose to see Dr. Gomoll today but the only time he could fit me in was at 315 and sadly I have a meeting over at the hospital that I can’t miss so Thursday it is.  But after talking it doesn’t sound good and I am getting some Xrays and an MRI on Thursday before I meet with him.  Awesome…… Keep your fingers crossed that it is something I can just do PT for and...
