Mary’s Practice ReCap
Last night I met up with a few team members for soccer practice. Only five ladies showed up, but there is always pick up soccer around these parts. There were a few games going on, so we sauntered over to one that looked like it was just starting up. It turns out we picked a group of high school dudes that play together on a u18 team in the area.
They had split their team up into offense and defense, and somehow I made my way onto the team with all the forwards. aka: Everyone liked to dribble and no one wanted to defend. Sort of like me.
It was a pretty fun game with decent intensity. The guys were all really fast and quick, and some of them had very good footwork, so it was a fun game to play. Their tactical awareness was not the greatest overall, although some players stood out as having a high level of tactical awareness.
It sort of reminded me of what it was like to be on a club team in high school.

That was a long time ago, haha.
After playing, one of the fathers/coaches came to talk to us for a few minutes, and invited us back every Monday and Wednesday to play. That always seems to be the way. A group of us chics roll up to a pack of lads and ask for a game. They always seem somewhat hesitant at first, but most people are too friendly to say no. so they let us join, expectations low, and by the end of the night they’re giving us their full practice schedule and begging us to come back.
What can I say?
That’s just how we do.
Going for a run tonight with a couple of the ladies. Will report back in full.
