The Marathon Project

Mary’s REGISTERED!

Welp, it’s official. My hat’s back in the ring for the OC Marathon.

We’ve all seen this before, right? This time around, let’s hope I stay healthy.

If all continues on the right track, my current injury will continue to heal and nothing new will jump out at me in these next 8 months of training and playing soccer.

Good luck, right? haha. You should see the soccer fields I play on.

(dreadful).

But the initial injury occurred while on turf, so can’t blame that. If I had to guess, I would bet my foot injury was a result of overuse, improper running shoes, and the transition from sitting on my booty all day to working out way harder than I had been.

This time around I’ll be extra careful to replace my running shoes when necessary and try to build and sustain muscle (besides just running and soccer) to keep my ankles (and knees, and anything else) strong and well supported.

Hopefully I’ll do well at this!

Good luck fellow runners!

By the way my race is on May 1, 2011, so towards the end of this year I’ll be checking in with a more rigorous training schedule. Until then, I’ll be running and playing soccer to maintain and hopefully slowly improve on my current cardio so I have a good base when I start training.

Oh, and I’ll be working on strength conditioning too. Even if it’s a measly 20 pushups, 60 situps per day, with 60 single leg calf raises every third day. I only mention this because that’s what I’ve been doing now. haha. It will improve. I promise.
